Recipe by – Reezwanah Seedat

Milk Tart slice / Melk Tert

1 packet of square shaped biscuits (coconut preferably )

500ml milk

Half cup sugar

1tsp vanilla essence 

3 Tbl custard powder

2nhalf Tbl corn flour

1tsp cinnamon powder


1. Layer the biscuits in a rectangular pyrex /pan

2. Allow the milk to heat up , add the sugar; vanilla and stir until diluted 

3. Form a paste with the custard and maziena..(use 2 to 3 Tbl of water)

4. Add the custard paste to the milk and stir continuously till thick. For a smooth textured custard ensure to stir well.

5. Pour the hot custard mixture onto the biscuit layer. 

6. Top the custard with another layer of biscuits and refrigerate.

7. Once set cut in squares using the biscuit shape as a guide. 

8. Finish of with a sprinkle of cinnamon powder .
