KWV triumphs as Best Producer South Africa at the 35th Grand International MUNDUS VINI Awards

KWV, one of South Africa’s most distinguished wine producers, has once again cemented its reputation for excellence on the global stage by being named Best Producer South Africa at the 35th Grand International MUNDUS VINI Awards. This prestigious honour illustrates KWV’s unparalleled dedication to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship in winemaking. In addition to this remarkable achievement, KWV was awarded the coveted Best of Show South African Red for The Mentors Perold 2020, an accolade reserved for the top wine in its category.

“This award reflects KWV’s steadfast dedication to excellence, pushing the boundaries of innovation and craftsmanship in every bottle we produce,” commented KWV CEO, John Loomes.

Mundus Vini, one of the world’s most influential wine competitions, evaluates wines from across the globe, making KWV’s recognition all the more significant. The winery’s success in capturing both Gold and Grand Gold medals speaks volumes about its exceptional craftsmanship, as well as its commitment to producing premium wines that reflect the reputation of excellence that South African wines are increasingly famous for.

KWV competed in the highly competitive New World Category, which featured renowned wineries from countries such as Australia, the USA, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Mexico, and Uruguay. Of the 1,600 medals awarded throughout the competition, only 168 were bestowed upon New World producers. Demonstrating the growing prestige of the South African wine industry, South Africa emerged as the top performer in this category, securing an impressive 53 medals. KWV led the way, earning nine Gold medals and one Grand Gold, making it the best-performing South African winery in the competition.

The MUNDUS VINI judging panel comprises a distinguished group of wine experts, including trained oenologists, top sommeliers, specialist wine retailers, journalists, and scientists from around the world. This ensures that the awards are a reliable benchmark for both consumers and the industry, as the results reflect balanced and consistent evaluations.
