Steak Gatsby

An artisanal baguette stuffed with masala fries and tenderised sirloin served with mango atchar.


  • 2.5kg steak
  • 250ml BBQ sauce
  • 25g BBQ spice
  • 10g salt & pepper
  • 30g garlic
  • 20m Worcestershire sauce
  • 50g mozzarella cheese
  • 100g chips
  • 15g garam masala spice
  • 20g relish
  • 1 baguette


  1. Cut the steak in strips, add all the ingredients and marinade overnight. Portion into 150g and wrap tightly. Freeze.
  2. Deep fry the chips until almost crispy. In a pan with some butter, heat up the spice and add the chips and the relish and fry for a few minutes.
  3. Toast and butter only half a baguette.
  4. Fry the steak strips on a medium temperature, adding a little of the BBQ sauce.
  5. Place on a small oven tray with the mozzarella on top to melt.
  6. On the bottom bun, add the masala chips first then the meat on top and then add the top bun.
  7. Serve with a small bowl of mango atchar.
