Spring and summer mark the best time to experience Stellenbosch, and the much-loved open-air Street Soirées are back. Organised by Stellenbosch Wine Routes, these relaxed evening events offer a snapshot of winelands living in a casual cocktail-style setting.

Guests enjoy top local wines, street food, and live music while mingling under Stellenbosch’s iconic oak trees.

A highlight of the winelands calendar

“The Stellenbosch Street Soirées have become one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the winelands calendar,” says Elmarie Rabe, manager of Stellenbosch Wine Routes. “It’s not only a way to be immersed in the wine and food traditions of Stellenbosch, but many people also use it as a prelude to a night out.”

With its long-standing reputation for wine, food, and culture, Stellenbosch remains one of South Africa’s most sought-after lifestyle destinations. During the warmer months, its cafés, wine bars, and estate restaurants come alive, making Street Soirées a seasonal favourite.

What to expect on the night

For each event, a section of Drostdy Street is closed to traffic and transformed into a social hub. For two hours, the street hosts:

• Comfortable seating pods
• Wine stalls showcasing a wide range of Stellenbosch producers
• Street food vendors offering diverse flavours
• Live music performances

The setting, combined with early-evening winelands weather, creates a relaxed and sociable atmosphere that keeps tickets in high demand.
