The 2nd Annual Africa’s Greatest Bakers Awards is set to take place in Katlehong, Johannesburg, on 28 October 2025, once again shining a spotlight on the exceptional talent shaping the continent’s baking industry.
Following the success of its inaugural event, the Awards return with even greater ambition — new categories, industry showcases, and fresh opportunities to connect bakers with distributors, suppliers, and baking enthusiasts.
The Awards recognise individuals and businesses that blend innovation, skill, and community impact, reaffirming that baking is not just about bread, cakes, and pastries, but also about heritage, empowerment, and economic growth.
Honouring Last Year’s Trailblazers
The 2024 edition set a high benchmark, celebrating bakers who left their mark on the industry:
- Rising Star: Nombulelo Maisa – Sweet Bundt
- Bakery Philanthropy: Khensani Peters – Ntshovelo Cakes
- Bakery Distributors: Edna Baker – Bake A Ton
- Academy of Excellence: Mduduzi Sisco Ndhlovu – Sisco Solutions and Training
- Emerging Game Changer: Sibahle Khumalo – Sweet Slice
These winners not only demonstrated technical mastery but also inspired future bakers by showing how passion and creativity can uplift communities.
“More Than Just a Celebration”
“The Africa’s Greatest Bakers Awards are more than just a celebration of bread, cakes, and pastries. They are about honouring the people who pour love, culture, and innovation into their ovens, and who continue to uplift communities through their passion for baking,” said the organisers.
This year, attendees can expect an expanded programme, including new award categories, live showcases, and valuable networking opportunities.
