Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS
  • • 500g lamb pieces
  • • biryani seed mix
  • • 1 onion, chopped
  • • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • • 2 red chillis
  • • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • • 2 tablespoons Kashmiri curry powder
  • • 2 tomatoes, grated
  • • ½ cup fresh coriander
  • • salt, to taste
  • • ½ cup water
  • • 2 large potatoes

Instructions

METHOD
1. In a large pot, add the Biryani seed mix along with chilli, onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onions are translucent.
2. Add the spices: Kashmiri powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Toast until fragrant, then add the lamb pieces along with ½ cup of water. Cook on a medium heat for 45 minutes.
3. After 45 minutes, add the grated tomatoes, salt, fresh coriander, and two diced potatoes. Add water if needed and continue to cook the curry for a further 45 minutes, or until the meat and potatoes are tender and soft.
4. Top with fresh coriander and serve with rice, roti, or naan bread, and enjoy!
